The purpose of this website is to explain and bring to wider attention the various reasons why Britain in particular is getting poorer. This analysis is relevant to other developed economies also, but the main focus is on the UK which, it is fairly clear now, is struggling more than most.
The author, Michael Roscoe, is a journalist, economist and specialist in the interpretation and presentation of data. He has worked at various British and American newspapers over the last forty years, including the Financial Times, The Economist and the Wall Street Journal.
He is the author of ‘Why Things Are Going To Get Worse … And Why We Should Be Glad’, published by New Internationalist and chosen as one of Times Higher Education’s books of 2014.
His latest book, ‘From Brexit to Fixit: Why Britain is Getting Poorer and What We Should Do About It’, will be available soon – watch this space!
(Note from the author: I can email a PDF of my book to anyone who is genuinely interested in this subject. I particularly want to hear from academics and journalists who share my feeling that something has gone seriously wrong with British economic policy: people who are interested in ideas regarding the problems and their solutions.)
